TOUR de UNIQUE ARTS frequently asked questions:
If you don't find the answers you are looking for here, email us with your question.
Q: Is this a one-day event, like a regular bike-a-thon where I will be riding with other people?
A: No. This is a three-week event where you can ride whenever and wherever you want. You can bike on your own or with your friends. Just email us your biking hours whenever you ride, and we’ll track your progress at our website.
Q: What if I don’t like biking in the snow and ice?
A: Indoor biking counts too! If you work out on a stationary bike or a bike trainer, count those hours. If you take a spin class, count those hours. If at night you dream about riding your bike through the rain forests of Costa Rica – well, use those endorphins to put in some real biking hours!
Q: What are the benefits of donating $50 to Project UNIQUE to participate in this event?
A: We are hoping that our bike-a-thon will motivate you to train, get exercise, and work toward your own fitness goals. After all, in the middle of winter, maybe you need some extra reasons for getting on that bike – how about the hundreds of kids who will benefit from the arts programming we provide? They'll thank you for your donation and your cycling hours!
Q: How competitive is this event?
A: The TOUR de UNIQUE ARTS is open to cyclists of all ages, levels, and abilities. We will chart your progress at our website, but you are not actually competing with the other participants (unless you have a side bet going on with some of your cycling friends or work colleagues).
Q: What will the T-shirt look like, and how will I get it?
A: Our event T-shirts will feature the whimsical and sprightly bike drawing that is used on our web site and on all our print material for the event. A 5th grader at one of our schools drew it! Your shirt will be mailed to the address on your registration form, and you will receive it sometime before the bike-a-thon ends on February 18.
Q: I don’t bike. Can I still participate?
A: Project UNIQUE would be grateful for your support, even if you aren’t a cyclist. You can still receive a T-shirt by submitting your registration form with a $50 donation! Donations in any amount can always be sent to us at Project UNIQUE, Inc. PO Box 10069, Brighton Station, Rochester, NY 14610. Thank you!
